Free Cyber Assessment Now Available for Scottish Organisations

From 4th January, Scottish organisations or organisations operating in Scotland can access a free Cyber Essentials Pre-Assessment through the Scottish Business Resilience Centre’s network of trusted partners.

As Trusted Partners of the Scottish Business Resilience Centre and an IASME certification body, we will be delivering pre-assessments as part of this scheme.

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) advise that the most common internet borne threats are not targeted, but opportunistic in nature and can be prevented by implementing basic, cost-effective cyber security measures. They recommend the adoption, as a minimum, of 5 critical network controls and the Cyber Essentials certification scheme, endorsed by the NCSC, offers you an independent examination of these 5 controls by a qualified assessor.

The SBRC CEP-A is aligned to these national standards and will consist of a Cyber Essentials Pre-Assessment and the provision of a GAP Analysis Report detailing the strengths and weaknesses of your current cyber security systems, and areas you will need to put more work into to get ready if you are going to pursue the Cyber Essentials accreditation.

Achieving the Cyber Essentials certification is a simple way for an organisation to demonstrate how seriously it takes cyber resilience to its customers, stakeholders, and suppliers. NCSC figures show that on average 3.5% of organisations fail the assessment each month, which can leave them out of pocket. This free support from SBRC and their Trusted Partner network will limit this failure rate by identifying gaps in cyber security procedures and provide advice to help organisations pass the certification on the first attempt.

Although the scheme funds the pre-assessment, if you would like to obtain the Cyber Essentials accreditation this will need to be funded by your organisation. Organisations have until 17th February to register to be covered by the funding.

At CyberCrowd we believe that no organisation is too big or too small to be taking their security seriously, being a trusted partner of the SBRC allows us to reach out and help more of you.
